The Metropolis of Chicago welcomes Mr. Constantine (Dean) Kartsimas to the position of Metropolis of Chicago Registrar beginning June 15, 2009. His responsibilities will include assisting His Eminence Metropolitan IAKOVOS Chicago and His Grace Bishop DEMETRIOS of Mokissos as they travel to various Metropolis parishes.
Mr. Kartsimas was born in Park Ridge, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. George Kartsimas of Buffalo Grove, IL, members of the Ascension of Our Lord parish in Lincolnshire. Raised up in the church, Dean served in the Altar, aided in countless service projects, attended Fanari Camp as a staff member, was a board member of the 2007 YAL Conference and coached the Ascension of our Lord Junior Olympic softball team. Dean now aspires to serve the Metropolis with the same amount of respect, humility and reverence as he has shown to his home parish for so many years.
Dean attended DePaul University, graduating in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in English. In college, Dean was active in student organizations: Vice-President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and various intramural sporting teams. Post graduation, Dean went back to the Ascension of our Lord parish to become a senior leader and advisor to the GOYA. His Eminence Metropolitan IAKOVOS and the entire Metropolis of Chicago staff welcome Dean as their newest member and pray his tenure will be one of abundant blessings.
Mr. Kartsimas is replacing Mr. Dimitri Tobias, who has served as the Metropolis Registrar since May, 2007. Mr. Tobias is departing the staff to serve full-time as a lay pastoral assistant at the Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church of Palatine, IL. Metropolitan Iakovos and Bishop Demetrios are very grateful for his years of service and pray for his continued success in his service to the Church.
