DES PLAINES, IL: St. John The Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Des Plaines, Illinois, hosted the Martha and Mary Maternity House Celebration and Thanksgiving Banquet on Tuesday, November 14. Close to 200 gathered to support the activities of this outreach mission of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago.
The Martha and Mary Maternity House is an Orthodox Christian Maternity Home for pregnant women in need of support. They are the fulfillment of a long-held dream of the members of Orthodox Christians for Life – Chicago, and they are a ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago.
A Pan-Orthodox Board of Directors operates under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, with the solid support of our beloved hierarchs across all Orthodox Jurisdictions.
The Martha and Mary Maternity House took occupancy of our house on November 1, 2015, in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. After completing final preparations, our first “daughter” moved into the House on April 1, 2016.
