METROPOLIS OF CHICAGO DELEGATION ATTENDS GUBERNATORIAL PORTRAIT UNVEILING
FORMER GOVERNOR PAT QUINN WORKED CLOSELY WITH BISHOP DEMETRIOS TO END DEATH PENALTY IN ILLINOIS AND WITH 2013 PASSAGE OF ARCHON RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE ECUMENICAL PATRIARCH OF CONSTANTINOPLE
SPRINGFIELD, IL: His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Fr George Pyle of St Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Church in Springfield, Illinois, and Media Relations Director John C. Ackerman attended as guest the Governor Pat Quinn Gubernatorial Portrait Unveiling at the Illinois State Capitol in the Hall of Governors.
In addition to former Governor Pat Quinn and countless Illinois State leaders whom welcomed him, Bishop Demetrios was particularly glad to visit with Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs who as a State Senator in 2013 was a major supporter of the Illinois State Senate resolution in support of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
