  • Fanari Winter Camp 2019 (Senior GOYAns Only) »

    January 17 - 20

    Seeing that waiting an entire year for the next session of camp is just too long, Fanari Winter Camp brings all of the fun of Fanari Summer Camp to the winter months. Fanari Winter Camp offers two sessions, the first for Senior GOYAns (High Schoolers) and the second for Junior GOYAns (Middle Schoolers). Our most enjoyable activities include: Worship, Orthodox Life, Winter Olympics, and much more! Our 2020 Fanari Winter Camp sessions are as follows:

    • Fanari Winter Camp | Senior GOYA (High School): January 17-20, 2020 [MLK Day Weekend] | $225/camper
    • Fanari Winter Camp | Junior GOYA (Middle School): February 28-March 2, 2020 [Pulaski Day Weekend] | $225/camper

    January 31

    Join the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago Family Synaxis for their 9th Annual Men’s Retreat from January 31 - February 1, 2020, at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center. The retreat, themed “Men & Fathers of the Bible” will be led by Fr. Richard Andrews of SS. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church.

  • Western Region Family Basketball Tournament »

    February 7 - 9

    The Western Region Family Basketball Tournament brings together parishes of the Western and Northern Regions of the Metropolis of Chicago in order to build up the church of Christ by confirming our unity and common faith. This is accomplished through worship, workshops, fellowship, and games.

    We are happy to announce that St. George St. Paul & Hyatt Regency in Bloomington, MN will host this year’s Tournament!

    February 14 - 17

    Geared toward Orthodox Christians between the ages of 18-35, the YAL Conference will provide an opportunity for young adults from across the country to explore, share, and live their faith in an immersive experience. This year's theme is “Orthodox on Purpose” with speakers to be announced soon.

  • Albert Cardinal Meyer Lecture Series - Rev. Dr. John Chryssavgis »

    Each year, the University of Saint Mary of the Lake holds a series of public lectures to explore issues of importance in theology, the arts, science and literature. This year, Archdeacon John Chryssavgis will be their visiting lecturer to address us on creation theology, a topic of great importance to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and to Pope Francis.

    Lecture I : On Early as in Heaven: Toward an Ecological Ethos and Worldview

    Friday, March 6 (9 AM-12 PM)

    Lecture II: Integral Ecology and Ecumenical Integrity: The Vision of Pope Francis and Patriarch Bartholomew

  • Oratorical Festival 2020 »

    The Saint John Chrysostom Oratorical and Fine Arts Festival is a longstanding tradition that provides a unique opportunity for our youth both to learn about their faith and to display their talents in the areas of Speech, Essay, Poetry, Iconography and Vocal Solo (new category as of 2019). Those who are successful at their individual parish festivals are invited to participate at the Metropolitan Festival each spring.

    The deadline for submitting the Participant Registration Form is Monday, March 25, 2019.

  • The Inaugural Servant Leadership Awards »

    ABOUT

    The Metropolis will host its inaugural Servant Leadership Awards Dinner on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Cotillion Banquets in Palatine, Illinois. On that date, the Metropolis will gather as one to recognize laypersons from our parishes who have distinguished themselves for their acts of service, leadership and innovation on behalf of our Holy Church. His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael wishes to use this occasion to formally acknowledge and reward the hard work and achievements of the lay servant leaders in our parishes, and hopes that by highlighting their efforts, others will be inspired to get involved in the life of the Church.
