    Coniaris, Father Anthony M. age 93, fell asleep in the Lord on March 15, 2020 at the Glen in Hopkins. His wife, Mary Pappas Coniaris, preceded him in death in July 1991, after 42 years of marriage.

    In this spirit of care and solidarity, all liturgical services in parishes of the Holy Metropolis of Chicago are suspended effective immediately, until further notice. Funerals, baptisms, and weddings will be celebrated with immediate family members in attendance only. Services in our two monasteries will only be open to the monastics residing therein. Moreover, all non-liturgical, in-person activities, whether occurring on parish grounds or offsite, are suspended effective immediately until further notice. These include, but are not limited to, catechetical classes, Greek language classes, fellowship, youth ministries, lectures, retreats, parish council meetings, social events, Bible studies, athletics, and Philoptochos meetings.

We are commencing a new and blessed pilgrimage toward Holy Pascha, which has “opened for us the gates of paradise.” In Church and as Church, as we behold the Risen Lord of glory, we all journey together along the way of deification by grace that leads to the heavenly goods “prepared by God for those who love Him” (1 Cor. 2:9).

Butterfield Road, Ste 201, Lombard, Illinois, 60148 on January 15, 2020. “We are deeply thankful to members of the Danos family, not only for their generous gift to the Metropolis, but also their personal investment of time and attention to ensure the Metropolis functions efficiently and effectively for the benefit of the faithful,” said His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael.

    The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago and Young Adult League Chicago announced today that Chicago is the host of the nationwide Young Adult League (YAL) Conference during President’s Day weekend. This is the first time the YAL Conference will take place since 2007. This year's theme is “Orthodox on Purpose” with speakers to be announced soon.
