OCF Nika House of UIUC

NIKA House Ministry at the U of I

The NIKA House Ministry at the University of Illinois is twofold: an Orthodox student living center and a ministry to the Orthodox students on campus through the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF).

Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church of Champaign began working with Orthodox students three decades ago. An active OCF was formed, which met at various places on campus. In time, a group of graduates formed the Orthodox Christian Alumni Association. They purchased a former fraternity house to serve as the student living center and the home for the OCF. NIKA House has an occupancy of 16 students and is certified by the University of Illinois for freshmen students. The OCF meets there every Tuesday evening for a free dinner provided by Three Hierarchs and discussions led by students and the priest of Three Hierarchs. They also gather at the house for social events.

Students are active in the local parish, teaching Sunday School, chanting, and serving on the Parish Council.
