    At a news conference Sunday at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Oak Lawn, kicking off a statewide campaign, Bishop Demetrios, chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, called on the Illinois Legislature to adopt a resolution supporting religious freedom for his order.

    His Grace, Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Chancellor of the Metropolis of Chicago, made a pastoral visitation to Champaign-Urbana, Illinois area on January 27. He began his visit with the celebration of Orthros and the Divine Liturgy at the Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church in Champaign and then held a press conference with Democrat State Senator Michael Frerichs and Champaign Mayor Don Gerard.

    The Retirement Research Foundation is pleased to announce the 2013 Accessible Faith Grant Program to enable houses of worship to make accessibility improvements to their facilities. Since the program began 10 years ago, the Foundation has awarded 141 grants to religious congregations totaling almost $3.1 million to make their facilities more accessible.

    Orthodox Christians for Life-Chicago is drawing closer to realizing their long-time dream of opening the first Orthodox Christian maternity home for pregnant women in crisis to be located in the Midwest. The maternity home will be called the Martha and Mary House and will be modeled after the Martha and Mary House location in Escondido, CA.
