For more than 43 years, the Metropolis of Chicago Junior Olympics and Special Olympics has stirred the souls of participants, family members, parishioners, and friends. That should come as no surprise because, after all, the God-given talents of our participants were on full display for all to appreciate, enjoy, and marvel at.

I am thrilled to report that the 2024 Junior Olympics, which took place over Memorial Day weekend, was a glorious success. A total of 1,448 athletes from 29 parishes and more than 150 volunteers came together to make Junior Olympics the must-see event that we know and love. Not only do participants play by the rules as athletes, as St. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy tell us, but they also triumphed in their performances as Christ triumphed over death.

A debt of gratitude goes to the people of SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Palos Hills, Illinois for hosting this worthy event. I invite you to relive the Junior Olympics through the photos that capture the experience of that weekend. If you haven’t participated, I strongly encourage you to register for the 2025 Junior Olympics!
