St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church is proud to name Arita Travlos as its Bronze Cross recipient. Prior to her recent “retirement,” Arita Travlos served on both the Philoptochos board, and Parish Council at St. Luke’s; not only as a member, but a leader. In 2017, Arita became the first woman Parish Council president, and served with distinction: always prepared, always at work, always encouraging her fellow Parish Council members to excel. Arita has also been active within the philanthropic ministries of St. Luke, serving as the first Philoptochos chapter president and as the Philoptochos Social Services Committee chair for years, helping our chapter aid community neighbors and our homebound parishioners. She was also Presvytera Kahlee Tsikalas’ surrogate mother during her catechesis, where they created a unique bond founded upon the love of Christ and His Church. Arita is not merely a “community leader,” but more significantly, she is a devout Orthodox Christian who attends both services with regularity. Her exceptional leadership qualities are shown through example and she never seeks gratitude from others.
