George Argires was raised in the community of Saints Constantine & Helen Church in Palos Hills, Illinois, graduating from the parish’s Koraes School in 1969. George joined the Parish Council in the mid-1980s and became the chairman of the Koraes School Board shortly thereafter. To date, he has served in this position for over 20 years. During his chairmanship, George’s leadership abilities were put to the test. In an instance of crisis at the school, he brought in outside consultants and energized school board members to work through the many issues and obstacles to find a path for Koraes to survive, resulting in a three-year strategic plan approved by the Parish Council. Since then the school has enjoyed annual increases in enrollment and is currently at 181 students. George has enjoyed a good relationship with his fellow Parish Council, school board members and parents throughout the years.
