“Vasilopita and Vespers” will be hosted by Father Kosmas Kallis. He will lead our young adult group through a vespers service, and afterward we will cut the vasilopita and bring prosperity to the new year. Afterwards, we will gather and have food as well.
Father Kosmas was born and raised in Livonia, Michigan, growing up serving as an altar boy and being positively impacted by the ministries of the Church, especially GOYA, Summer Camp and the CrossRoad Institute. He earned a BA in Religious Studies from Hellenic College in 2012 and an MDiv from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, graduating with High Distinction in 2014.
In 2013, Father Kosmas married his wife Anna, who is also a Holy Cross Graduate. Upon graduation from seminary, they lived in Thessaloniki for six months, visiting holy sites and studying Greek. Beginning in January 2015, Father Kosmas joined the parish staff of SS Peter and Paul as the full time youth director. At the end of 2018, Fr. Kosmas was appointed as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago.
In November 2023, Father Kosmas was appointed Pastor (Proistamenos) of St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church. He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate in October of 2015 and to the Holy Priesthood in March of 2016.
