Behind every sacred calling is a faith community that helps nurture it.
Thanks to your generosity, eight Hellenic College Holy Cross (HCHC) students will receive a total of $62,000 in scholarships for the 2027 academic year. These awards are made possible through the Metropolis of Chicago’s HCHC Scholarship Fund, supported by the Annual HCHC Dinner and individual donations.
This year’s scholarship recipients are:
- Ethan Bucshon — Three Hierarchs, Champaign, IL
- Levi Castleberry — St. Demetrios, Libertyville, IL
- Michael Fiotakis — Holy Cross, Justice, IL
- Dean Kazantzis — St. Nectarios, Palatine, IL
- Michael Ketchum — Kimissis Tis Theotokou, Racine, WI
- Safiya Lazarava — St. Anthony, Springfield, IL
- Panayiotis Malamis — St. Demetrios, Elmhurst, IL
- Carter Yenerall — St. Anthony, Springfield, IL
Five recipients—Ethan Bucshon, Michael Fiotakis, Dean Kazantzis, Michael Ketchum, and Carter Yenerall—also received scholarships last year.
Join us on November 5 for the 4th Annual HCHC Dinner to help extend these gifts to more years education and more worthy students. Tickets are still available but please register here by October 29.
By easing the financial burden of theological education, the fund helps prepare men and women for service to the Church and their communities. This work furthers the Metropolitan’s five-year vision to cultivate clergy, parishes, and growth. Please remember these students in your prayers as they continue their studies and discern their calling.
