LARGE CROWD ATTEND ANNUAL GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY EVENT AT DALEY PLAZA IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO

CHICAGO, IL: An impressive large crowd attended the Annual Raising of the Greek Flag and Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Richard J. Daley Center Plaza in Downtown Chicago on Thursday, March 22. The Consul General of Greece in Chicago Polyxeni Petropoulou, Father Chrysanthos Kerkeres, and hundreds of Greek Orthodox laity of the City of Chicago participated at this yearly Greek Independence Event hosted by ENOSIS in honor of the Hellenes and Philhellenes who gave their lives for Freedom.

The Eastern Orthodox Church is the second largest Christian denomination worldwide. The Metropolis of Chicago oversees all Greek Orthodox Parishes within Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, as well as large portions of Missouri and Indiana.
