Reverend Clergy and Beloved Faithful
Holy Metropolis of Chicago
Beloved in the Lord,
Each year on the twenty-fifth of March, Orthodox Christians throughout the world joyfully celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation to the Most Holy Theotokos. For Greek Orthodox Christians, this day takes on added significance, commemorating the heroic struggle of the Greek nation in the year 1821 for freedom, liberty, and independence. In honor of this important event, the Chicago Pan-Hellenic Parade will be held on April 14, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. (for more information please see http://www.enosisillinois.com). We request all Reverend Priests and Deacons, The Presidents and Members of the Parish Councils of the Greek Orthodox Communities, Distinguished Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Day, Afternoon, and Church Schools, the Philoptochos Sisterhoods, the Youth, the Hellenic Organizations, and the entire Greek Orthodox Family of the Holy Metropolis of Chicago, to be present and to participate with enthusiasm.
In our contemporary world, which is beset today by turmoil, our faith and heritage uphold the virtues of freedom, peace, and hope in God’s deliverance.
With paternal Blessings,
Metropolitan IAKOVOS of Chicago
