His Grace Bishop Timothy Assumes Greater Responsibilities in the Care of Parishes and Clergy of the Metropolis of Chicago as Senior Advisor to Metropolitan Nathanael
LOMBARD, IL, March 6 – His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago announced today that, after six years of dedicated service as Chancellor of the Metropolis of Chicago, His Grace Bishop Timothy of Hexamilion will step aside as Chancellor to take on a new role. Effective immediately, His Grace will support His Eminence in more fully serving the liturgical and pastoral needs of the Metropolis’s parishes.
In addition, His Grace will devote more time to engaging parishes on the key pillars of the Metropolis’s long-term vision and will continue his role as Spiritual Advisor to the Metropolis of Chicago Philoptochos.
“His Grace Bishop Timothy has dutifully served the people, communities, and institutions of the Metropolis of Chicago with the grace and humility of a servant of God. As Metropolitan, I recognized this when I asked him to serve as Chancellor and remain deeply grateful for his support and contributions as a faithful partner and trusted advisor. As he steps aside from his administrative responsibilities, our Holy Metropolis will greatly benefit from His Grace’s spiritual and pastoral leadership,” said His Eminence.
With nearly 50 years of ordained service to the Metropolis of Chicago, including experience as a social services director and chaplain, His Grace has been a spiritual father to countless faithful. He has organized ministries, secured housing and employment for individuals and families in need, delivered emergency food aid to vulnerable populations, and offered spiritual comfort and Christian love to innumerable souls.
His Eminence has assigned the Vicar General of the Metropolis of Chicago, the Very Rev. Archimandrite Dionysios Anagnostopoulos, and the Vicar for West Suburban Chicago, the Rev. Economos Panagiotis Boznos, to assume all responsibilities of the Office of the Chancellor. Both will maintain their responsibilities as parish priests and vicars.
