Hellenic Foundation Extends Grant Deadline to August 1
The COVID-19 crisis has had a devastating impact on the organizations and programs benefiting the Greek and Orthodox community of the Chicagoland area. As a result, the Hellenic Foundation’s Board of Directors is extending the 2020 Grant Application Deadline to August 1, 2020 in an attempt to provide additional time for organizations to re-evaluate and revise their grant applications, as needed. It is the Hellenic Foundation's hope that this extension will result in an increased number of grant applications and improved programs for the benefit of our community.
Community Care Program for Seniors
If you or a loved one is a senior in need of in-home caregiving services, please consider whether you qualify for free services through the Community Care Program established by the Illinois Department on Aging. To learn more about the program or to apply for benefits, call the Senior Help Line at the Department on Aging at 1-800-252-8966 or visit www2.illinois.gov\aging.
The Hellenic Foundation, which has served the Greek American senior community for decades, has bilingual staff members who are able to answer general questions about the Community Care Program. For more information, please call 773-631-5222 Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or visit www.hellenicfoundation.org/community-care-program.
The following basic requirements must be met by the senior applying for the services:
Age 60 or older
Determined physically in need of service, meaning at least moderately impaired
Must be an Illinois resident
Must meet the asset requirements (under $17,500 annual income per person or under $35,000 per couple – more details are provided by the Community Care Program case manager)
Must already have or apply for Medicaid
Once approved for in-home services, a senior can choose the Hellenic Foundation to provide the approved services. Alternatively, the Illinois Department on Aging allows a family member or friend to provide services to the senior, while he/she would receive training and compensation from the Hellenic Foundation (spouses and persons with power of attorney are excluded for this position).

We invite parishioners who can offer, or are aware of, job openings to contact us so that we may consider sharing them on this page.
