The Hagia Sophia: Past and Future

Wednesday, May 18, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

With generous grant support from the Hellenic Foundation, we are presenting a series of free, 90-minute online classes for adult learners. Join us for one or more lively and engaging discussions hosted on zoom and facilitated by NHM’s Dr. Katie Kelaidis. For questions, or to schedule a special time that suits your organization, email kkelaidis@hellenicmuseum.org.

The Hagia Sophia, Past and Future: One of the most beautiful and controversial pieces of architecture in human history, this 90-minute lecture will explore the building’s 1,500 year history. We will discuss ethnic and interreligious conflict, the importance of sacred spaces, and the preservation of cultural heritage sites.
