GREEK ORTHODOX METROPOLIS OF CHICAGO WELCOMES
METROPOLITAN STEPHANOS OF KALLIOUPOLIS AND MADYTOS,
ACTING GRAND CHANCELLOR, ECUMENICAL PATRIARCHATE OF CONSTANTINOPLE

On Monday, July 14, His Eminence Metropolitan Metropolitan Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, Acting Chancellor of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, was welcomed at a reception in his honor at the Union League Club of Chicago, hosted by His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Chancellor of the Metropolis of Chicago, on behalf of His Eminence, Metropolitan Iakovos. Accompanying His Eminence was Patriarchal Deacon Niphon, a former parishioner of the Saints Constantine and Helen Church of Merrillville, Indiana.

The reception allowed His Eminence to meet leaders of the Greek Orthodox community in Chicago. Welcoming His Eminence was Father John Ketchum, President of the Metropolis of Chicago Clergy Syndesmos; Mr. Harold Peponis, Regional Commander of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate/Order of Saint Andrew; Mrs. Angeliki Stephenson, past President of the Hellenic Society of Constantinople; Mr. Chris Tomaras, Chairman of the PanHellenic Foundation and other members of the Metropolis Council, the Hellenic Society of Constantinople, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate/Order of Saint Andrew in Chicago and the local Greek-American Community.

His Eminence, briefly in Chicago following the Archdiocesan Clergy-Laity Congress in Philadelphia, extended the blessings of His All-holiness Patriarch Bartholomew while expressing his pleasure in making new friends in Chicago.
