METROPOLIS OF CHICAGO HOST GREEK ORTHODOX ARCHDIOCESE OF AMERICA NATIONAL AND JOINT FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING

MULTIPLE REPRESENTATIVES OF ALL EIGHT METROPOLISES AS WELL
DIRECT ARCHDIOCESE DISTRICT IN DES PLAINES FOR YEARLY MEETING

DES PLAINES, IL: The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago host the annual Archdiocese of America National and Joint Finance Committee Meeting over December 7-8, 2016, at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Des Plaines, Illinois.

The meeting was chaired by Archdiocese Finance Committee Chairman George Vourvoulias. In addition to the multiple members of each Metropolis Finance Committee, others in attendance included Metropolis of Chicago Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Metropolis of Boston Chancellor Father Theodore Barbas, Metropolis of Atlanta Chancellor Father George Tsahakis and Metropolis of Denver Chancellor Deacon Paul Zaharas, and Archdiocese Executive Director Jerry Dimitriou.

The Archdiocese of America Finance Committee is a fully representative group that works to guarantee the continued finances needed to administer the Greek Orthodox Church throughout the United States. The sessions began with a special prayer marking the 75th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. Topics discussed included deliberations concerning the Priest Pension Fund and National Allocation System. A strong message was delivered concerning the need to look towards growth and investment in our faith.
