GREEK ORTHODOX METROPOLIS OF CHICAGO ANNOUNCES
THE OPENING OF ITS ONLINE BYZANTINE MUSIC SCHOOL

CHICAGO: With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, long a stalwart supporter of traditional Orthodox chant through its Byzantine Music School, is pleased to announce the expansion of its Music School with two new courses to be taught online: Introduction to Byzantine Music and Advanced Course in Byzantine Music.

This online expansion of the Byzantine Music School seeks to address the needs of those parishes and interested learners by reaching out to communities who do not have access to qualified instructors in the art of chant, as well as individuals whose busy schedules make it difficult to attend classes in person.

Each twelve session class will be taught live and exclusively online by Fr. Sotirios Malamis, associate pastor of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Des Plaines, IL. Fr. Sotirios is a certified instructor of Byzantine Music. The cost of registration will be $50 / 12 sessions, and each class will be limited to the first 25 registrants. Participants will be able to join the online class through their desktop computer or mobile tablet device.

Classes begin on Monday, October 28 and will be held each Monday evening. In order to register, or to learn more about these classes, visit the Metropolis website’s new Learning Store.
