This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversaries of Fanari Camp. We invite all of our Fanari Family – clergy, alumni, campers, camper families, staff, and alumni staff to celebrate this historic occasion with dinner, music, dancing, and our guests of honor.
Our Camping Ministries have provided special opportunities for worship, education, friendship, service, and perhaps most importantly, stillness. St. Fanari Camp has shaped the spiritual lives of tens of thousands of our Metropolis faithful, including countless parents who continue to share this special camping tradition with their children today.

While Fanari Summer Camp finds its roots in the Summer Church Camp Program of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Chicago (which dates back into the mid-50’s), it officially became Fanari Camp in 1972. As it celebrates its 50 th Anniversary this year, our Fanari Family can look back on the impact this vital ministry has had on our Metropolis.
Fanari is now seeing its third generation of campers, after having the grandparents and parents of current campers attend in the past. As we move through the first part of the new century, the Metropolis of Chicago Fanari Summer Camp continues to see strong interest in the camp program. Fanari’s Leadership team is always planning to guarantee that this “jewel” of our Metropolis is around to provide the same experiences to current and future youth that it did for their parents and grandparents. Therefore, Fanari also looks ahead to the next 50 years of its ministry for the current and future generations of our youth.
Therefore, we are asking for your financial support.
This year, we invite you to become a part of this unique 50-year celebration. We are asking for both corporate and private donations for our 50th Anniversary Dinner Celebration, Sunday, October 9, 2022. All donations will help Fanari Camping Ministries by: (1) allowing development of more programs; (2) reducing registration fees to include more participants and; (3) offering registration aid to families who can’t afford them. Hotel Block
Guests are welcome to utilize the hotel block at Hampton Inn and Suites Deer Park.
Guests must book hotel rooms by Sept 7th at 11:59pm, or before capacity runs out.
To book, guests should call to make reservations on the phone Hampton Inn and Suites Deer Park 847-726-0500 Ex 0 and tell them to book for the “Fanari 50th Anniversary” block. Guests who wish to book online should use the code “FAC”. A shuttle will be available to and from the Concorde.
