Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago Announces Formation of Metropolis Junior Board

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL, June 13, 2019 – The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago today announced the creation of a new advisory board consisting of young adults from across the Metropolis to serve the Church, advance the Metropolis’ goals and advise His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael.

Originally conceived by His Eminence, the Board’s primary charge is to recommend, develop and implement policies and programs to encourage greater participation among young adults in the life of the Church, including among lapsed or unengaged Orthodox Christians.

The 24 members of board, ranging in age from 21 – 40, will report to His Eminence and will collaborate with Fr. Kosmas Kallis, Director of the Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministries, on an ongoing basis. The first formal meeting is slated for Tuesday, June 11, where board objectives, committee structure and ongoing responsibilities will be discussed.

“As I travel to parishes across the Midwest, I continue to be impressed by the energy, creativity and sense of community among the young adults of the Metropolis. The Church needs young adults of this caliber to grow and thrive,” said His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael. “I look forward to see them grow as Christ-centered servant leaders, as well as to receive their advice to engage the next generation of the faithful of the Metropolis.”
