Loving God and loving our neighbor are Christ’s two commands to us. Even in times of personal tremendous struggle, Barbara Pappas follows the model of Christ as a servant leader. Throughout over four decades of dedicated service, Barbara has tirelessly, and with great humility, served others first. Offering her gift of knowledge by way of teaching, Barbara developed a remarkable education program for children and adults. Her love of teaching and concern for others caused her to author four books, including the well-known title “Are You Saved?” which has been translated into 12 languages. Barbara transformed one box of books into the Holy Apostles Resource Center, which now houses thousands of Orthodox volumes. Witnessing Barbara’s radiant devotion to Christ and encountering her veritable love toward neighbors provides a living example of Christ’s commandment. True leaders do not direct their energy inward, but turn outward ever reaching toward their neighbor.
