Ellen Best is a second generation parishioner at the Annunciation Cathedral in Chicago. She was raised with a strong sense of community within the Cathedral, cultivated by her parents. Losing her mother at a young age, her faith and church family provided her strength and comfort. Her father, Peter, who we see most Sundays, instilled in her a commitment to the Cathedral, one she has passed down to her son Christopher, who we see each Sunday in the altar. Ellen lives in Old Town and has served the Cathedral in many ways. She taught Sunday School for 11 years and has chaired the Stewardship Committee for the past six years, raising the tithes given to the church from $25,000 to over $150,000. She has also been called to join the Metropolis Strategic Planning Committee, where she helps create the vision for the future for the Metropolis of Chicago.
