It is impossible to choose either Nia or George Choles for this award. Throughout the history of our community, this husband and wife team have worked side-by-side to uphold and represent our Orthodox faith. Whether singing in the choir for 72 years or working with Philoptochos, Nia puts the needs of her community first. As past president, George stewarded the parish from a small chapter founded by his father, to a welcoming beacon of Orthodoxy in Madison. Most importantly, George and Nia serve as the greeters to the community. Whenever a visitor arrives, they reach out with genuine agape and interest. This simple gesture proves inspirational for all of us. Too happy with life to retire, George and Nia returned from a recent trip to Greece with dreams of expanding our community through a St. Nektarios Center. The Assumption community of Madison is honored to have these individuals in their home.
