Back to Servant Leadership Award Recipients

Honorable Judge James Pouros, born in 1944 to an immigrant Greek father and Polish mother, lived through hardships and received his Law Degree at Marquette University. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and has been practicing law for 40 years, the last 10 as a Circuit Court Judge. Jim’s history project inspired The New World Odyssey (John Gurda, 1986), which chronicles Greeks in Milwaukee and the historic building of our church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. He has been a tour guide at Annunciation for over 40 years and is revered as a parish historian who has served on the Parish Council, Foundation Board, choir for 63 years and numerous other committees. Jim’s intelligence coupled with his humble demeanor and calming presence enabled him to contribute to the Annunciation parish and the Milwaukee community by serving on the boards of a local library and hospital during times of controversy.
