Back to Servant Leadership Award Recipients

Matthew has been part of the St. Andrew community since the mid-1960s, where he was married and later baptized his daughters. He served on the Parish Council for 25 years and continues to serve the Narthex committee, greeting parishioners every week. He is also a dedicated member of our maintenance committee. Matthew’s selflessness and humbleness know no bounds; his mechanical background has enabled him to help our church in countless ways. He has been spotted in the church attic traversing the cat-walk to change light bulbs; frying Loukoumades at the parish festival; and assisting parishioners of all ages! When we named Matthew our first Bronze Cross recipient, he was genuinely touched but asked if we could find someone else. This further solidified our decision to name him for this honor. Matthew exemplifies the humble spirit, selflessly giving of his time, talent and treasure while gently encouraging others to participate in the life of the church.
