We are thrilled to share the remarkable success of our Fall Greek Food Fest at St. Sophia Philoptochos, Elgin, IL – Chapter 2032 of the Metropolis of Chicago. Thanks to the combined efforts of our dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and supportive community, we raised an incredible $35,000, all of which will be directed toward hurricane relief efforts through the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).
Held in October, the Fall Greek Food Fest showcased traditional Greek dishes like gyros, spanakopita, pastichio, baklava, and more. Over two days, guests enjoyed the delicious offerings while embracing the spirit of generosity and compassion. This achievement was a testament to the power of community coming together to make a meaningful impact.
During the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, December 1st, we had the honor of presenting a $35,000 check to Nick Kasemeotes of IOCC, who joined us in worship. These funds will directly support IOCC’s critical on-the-ground hurricane relief efforts, providing essential resources and hope to communities affected by recent storms.
This accomplishment would not have been possible without the tireless work of our volunteers, the leadership and guidance of Father Andrew Karamitos, and the unwavering dedication of our Philoptochos members. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this effort and to Nick for his continued work with IOCC.
Together, as a community, we are sharing Christ’s love through action and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
Thank you for helping us spread the word about this incredible milestone and for supporting St. Sophia Philoptochos in our ongoing mission of service.
