Metropolis of Chicago announces recipients of Metropolis Bronze Cross

LOMBARD, IL, March 9, 2020 – The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago announced today the recipients of the Metropolis of Chicago’s Bronze Cross. The Bronze Cross is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a layperson in the Metropolis and is intended to recognize service, leadership and innovation on a parish or local community level.

The recipients will be honored at the Metropolis’ Inaugural Servant Leadership Awards Banquet to be held at the Cotillion Banquets in Palatine, Illinois, on *November 6. At that time, His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael will bestow the Bronze Cross upon each of the recipients and thank them for their distinguished servant leadership.Click HERE to view a list of the 2020 honorees.

“As Orthodox Christians, we place our faith in Jesus Christ Who saved the world through service to others and self-sacrifice. As His children, we are called to embrace Christ’s example,” said His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael. “We are truly blessed to work alongside so many servant leaders on a daily basis. We know that these men, women and emerging adults seek to receive an imperishable wreath in heaven; however, it is our hope that by highlighting their example, others will be inspired to imitate them.”

In addition to honoring showcasing the work of our parish servant leaders, the Awards Banquet is intended to help raise awareness and to support the Metropolis’ central initiatives, including: the advancement of religious literacy for youth and adults, the continual formation and leadership opportunities for the clergy, and the support of our parishes through the Metropolis Parish Assistance Fund.

For more information, please visit the Servant Leadership Awards Banquet page, and refer to the Sponsorship Packet as you consider our invitation to make a greater impact through the Metropolis. Sponsorships will be recognized in numerous ways, including, the Banquet program book and via the Metropolis’ electronic communications.

*UPDATEThis event has been rescheduled from May 1, 2020 to November 6, 2020 in light of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. We apologize for any inconvience this may have caused. More details will be announced soon.
